Appendix A - The skinny on the shows I’m playing in July:
On July 8th, I’m very excited to participate in the Oregon premiere of my WPA-inspired orchestral song cycle, Gabriel’s Guide to the 48 States, at the Oregon Bach Festival. Read more about the piece here. Then on July 12th and 14th, I’ll be doing another orchestral song cycle-ish thing of mine, Crane Palimpsest, with my neighbors, The Knights. The first show is at the Naumburg Bandshell in Central Park; the second will mark my Tanglewood debut! Later in the month, I’ll be renewing my residency at Rockwood Music Hall on the LES of Manhattan, where I’ll be workshopping new songs for an upcoming album, which I expect to be released sometime in 2017. There will doubtless be shenanigans, special guests, and copious libations. Finally, at the very end of the month, I’m going to be performing my song cycle Craigslistlieder in its entirety, along with Schumann’s great Dichterliebe, which for me is the “Paul Simon’s Graceland of the nineteenth century”. To round out that program, I’ll be doing songs of mine including a new solo arrangement of “Empire Liquor Mart”.
That’s all folks!
Gabriel
